Avoiding Holes
Only one hint on how to avoid holes in nylon stockings is given in the latest issue of “Consumer” in a review of tests on nylons. Looser suspenders may have avoided a hole at the knee when bending, kneeling on the floor or getting into a car. For the rest, women have just got to put up with the snags and holes—but “Consumer” does give a list of the most common causes.
Chafing against shoes, stones in shoes, catching against furniture, fingernails, toe nails, rose bushes, suitcases, shoe buckles and heels and rings were among them.
Tears by cats, wearing out on the sole and cigarette ash bums are among the other causes found by “Consumer.”
