AERO CLUB RECORDS
The Canterbury Aero Club is now believed to be the largest in New Zealand, says the president (Mr G. J, Williamson) in his annual report, which lists new records in almost all activities.
Some of the 1965-66 figures (with the previous year’s in parenthesis) are:—Members, 790 ( 691); flying hours, 11,002 (8152): students under training, 140 (128); first lessons, 160 (130); first solo flights, 92 (46); private licences, 50 (33); commercial licences, 8 (7); aircraft, 13 (10).
