Rumania’s Stand To Be Discussed
(N.Z.PA. Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, June 6. The Rumanian Foreign Minister, Mr Corneliu Manescu, can expect close questioning on his country’s bid for more freedom when Communist bloc Ministers meet in Moscow this week.
The Rumanian stand is a main cause of tension within the Warsaw Pact alliance.
Secrecy has shrouded the meeting first being held between Foreign Ministers of East European States and Russia which make up the seven-nation defence alliance. The meeting—fallowing closely on talks here last week-end between. Warsaw Pact Defence Ministers—is believed to be part of preparations for a full-scale Soviet
bloc summit meeting next month.
The Soviet Foreign Minister, Mr Andrei Gromyko, is expected to urge Rumania to ensure its views do not lead to a Warsaw Pact crisis—like that created by France’s plans to withdraw its farces from N.A.T.O. integrated commands.
Mr Gromyko’s line is almost certain to receive strong backing from East Germany, Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria.
