Small Price Increase
Warm weather after the Whitsun holiday week-end reduced the inquiry when the week’s trade commenced on London’s Smithfield market, the Meat Producers’ Board’s market information service reported today. However, light pitchings of chilled beef and apprehension resulting from the seamens’ strike enabled wholesalers to maintain firm prices. New Zealand lamb sold steadily at mainly unchanged prices. Light supplies of New Zealand mutton cleared steadily, but there were no quotable prices. New Zealand beef was not quoted. Price Range Quotations for New Zealand lamb were;—
