NAVY SHIP HELPS
Cook Island Boy Injured (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 6. An injured Cook Island boy was taken ashore from H.M.N.Z.S. Endeavour at Rarotanga this morning. The boy, Ronnie Autokoturu, aged six. broke a thigh at his home on the island of Mangaia three days ago. During the last two days Endeavour has been unloading 500 out-dated anti-submarine projectiles and four tons of T.N.T. at Mangaia for reef blasting to develop a landing harbour.
While the cargo was being unloaded the ship’s principal medical officer (Surgeon Lieu-tenant-Commander N. Royhouse) examined the injured boy. The Child was taken aboard Endeavour last night on its scheduled voyage to Rarotonga.
