FORD CUTS PRODUCTION

(N.Z.P.A-Reuter—Copyright) DETROIT, May 10. The Ford Motor Company announced yesterday it was reducing car production because there were too many unsold models in the showrooms. General Motors, the world’s largest corporation, announced cutbacks in four of its 23 assembly plants last week. But Ford said it would not shorten the working week at any of its seven plants. Ford said its May production quota of 261,000 cars had been cut back to 242,000. An industry publication said the makers had found both production and inventory to be excessive and had no choice but to take remedial action.
