NOMINATION MADE

New Bishop Of Christchurch

The electoral synod of the Anglican diocese of Christchurch has made its nomination of a new Bishop of Christchurch to the Primate (the Most Rev. N. A. Lesser). This was announced by the presiding bishop (the Rt. Rev. H. W. Baines) last evening after the synod ended two days' deliberations shortly before 11 p.m. “The next steps are his (the Primate’s) to consult the other diocesan bishops, the standing committees of this diocese and those of the other dioceses.’.’ said Bishop Baines. “When their consent is received the Primate will invite the man. Not until these steps have been taken, and this may mean a matter of weeks, can the announcement be expected.”

Tools Stolen.—A chainsaw and an electric drill of a total value of £l9O were stolen when the premises of Ready Mix Concrete in Waltham road were broken into on Tuesday night.
