TO BOX AS A PRO.

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The New Zealand light heavy-weight amateur boxing champion, F. Opetaia, has applied to the Auckland Boxing Association for a professional licence. Opetaia, who was included in the Empire Games boxing trials at Wellington last month, won the Auckland light heavy-weight title in August when he knocked out J. Malentino in the second round. In the national championships he won the title by knocking out B. Forder, of Wellington, an experienced English fighter, in the first round. The Tokoroa middle-weight, K. Muhanga, who reached the semi-finals of the national middle-weight championships, has been approached to turn professional by the Auckland association. He is considering the proposal.
