CLOTHING STOLEN
Escaper Suspected Ronald Anthony Dick, the 23-year-old burglar who escaped from Paparua Prison on Friday, was still at large last evening. He is now thought to be wearing fawn trousers and a dark green jacket with a zip fastener down the front. These clothes, and a transistor radio, were stolen from a dry-cleaning establishment in Kaiapoi at the week-end. A pair of prison moleskin trousers were left in the premises Yesterday afternoon, a pair of underpants was stolen from a house property in Clark avenue, Pines Beach. Neighbours heard a crash from the garage on the property. Erratic tyre marks were found in sand on the property by the owner when he came home in the evening. The police suspect that Dick, although he has been convicted of car conversion, cannot drive properly. Prison authorities have told them that Dick cannot drive. There were no reported sightings of Dick yesterday or last evening. No cars were repored missing in the Kaia-poi-Pines Beach area. The police and prison officers were still manning five road blocks in North Canterbury last night.
Not Available. — The former New Zealand selector and All Black. Mr J. L. Sullivan, wiil not seek re election to the New Zealand Rugby Union’s executive committee. Mr Sullivan is at present in the United States on business and is expected to stay there for about a year.
