UNREST IN NORTH

I.V.Z. Press Assn. — Copyright) SAIGON. March 14. Thousands of people demonstrated in the northern university city of Hue today in support of Buddhist demands for political unity and a return to elected civilian government in South Vietnam. The demonstrators, estimated to be about 7000, including students and uniformed soldiers, gathered outside Dieu de Pagoda and cheered as Buddhist and student leaders reiterated demands made on Saturday in Saigon by the powerful Unified Buddhist Church. • The unrest in the north has been touched off by the ousting last Saturday of Lieutenant-General Nguyen Chanh Thi, the former commander of this military zone, but speakers today were reported to have made no reference to him.
