TROTTING REALLY GOOD FIRM FANCY FOR STAKES
Really Good, which established a New Zealand mile record of 2.5 1-5 when he won at Addington Raceway on Tuesday night, should go close to winning again in the Timaru Nursery’ Stakes at Washdyke today.
Unfortunately the I] club has retained its maximum field of 20 J and there is certain to |, be a tremendous amount of interference I. in the first furlong. R°ally Good has drawn 1 wide at No. 13, but if he gets 1 away smoothly, he should! 1 e Jp >e trouble. The manner in j ’ wi.,eh he won on Tuesday suggests that he will be un- 1 troubled by the extra two fur-’ 1 longs at Washdyke. ! Mokoreta and Local Frost i have both drawn well. They! l have proved to be two of the! most reliable beginners from a stand at trials and they! l should be to the fore through-1: out. Mokoreta won handily over 10 furlongs at Spotswood last!' Saturday and he should mas-! ter the distance competently. ! Local Frost disappointed a shade when he tired at Add- ' ington Raceway on Tuesday, j but he pulled hard easily. He ; could make amends in this 1 race. ; Montage would be one of i the favourites if he was on ■ the front line, but he has . drawn No. 20 and is certain i to have to start in behind. His ' placing at Addington on Tuesday was a splendid effort. 1 Killadar has also drawn the > second line. He was beaten < narrowly by Holy Hal at For- j bury Park and finished third i
’behind the same horse at ! Wyndham last week after Tangling inside the last furlong. Killadar is a grand type lof pacer and he could easily ! win. I Authentic, Kimberley Kid, ! Renata and Stewart Hanover are others certain to give a good account of themselves. The T.A.B. double will be | run on the Timaru Cup and the Washdyke Handicap. An on-course double will be run on the Salisbury Handicap and the Timaru Nursery I Stakes. ! Fine weather is forecast and I the track will be fast.
