Stablemates Fancied In Waikouaiti Double

The Gore trainer, E. A. Winsloe, will saddle one of the most popular combinations for the 1 -A.B. double at the XV aikouaiti Racing Club’s annual meeting today.

Tundra, a close second to Palisade in the Vice-Regal Handicap at Wingatui the last time she raced, is entitled to favouritism for the first leg, the Waikouaiti Cup.

Tundra's stablemate, Bellarook, will have made another notable contribution to a sound record if he is successful in the Toomey Memorial Handicap, an event for open class sprinters. But the Gore stablemates are unlikely to have things all their own way. The Wingatui father and son combination. A. N. and A. E. Didham, coutld just as easily saddle the successful combination. Royal Estate, a versatile Castle Donnington entire, would have little trouble matching the best of his rivals in the Waikouaiti Cup if A. N. Didham can produce him at the peak of his form. Flying York, like Royal Estate, has impressed in his training this week. Although be has not raced since the New Zealand Cup meeting he has previously run some of his best races fresh. Riccarton trainers will also saddle their share of form runners.

Hushaway and Shipmate, both members of J. C. Tomkinson’s stable, could both be major contenders if they produced their best form. J. L. Barr, who saddled Early Dawn and Sabell to win the T.A.B. double at Motukarara last week, will have General Gilbert and Sabell to represent his stable this time. Golden Vanity, G. R. Felling’s lone runner, must also be rated a chance in the cup. She came into favour as the result of impressive gailops in training during the week. There will be a double for course patrons only on the Johnny Jones High-weight

and the Orbell Improvers' Handicap. Grand Prix and Coseta could be the successful combination. According to a Dunedin report the track is in excellent order. Fields:—
