LECTURER IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY The applicant should possess a higher degree such as the de gree of Doctor of Philosophy; and have had some post-doctor-al experience. A vigorous research programme is in operation and the research Interests I of the present staff include the' study of the natural products; from Queensland flora and mar ine fauna. general organic! chemistry, and mechanisms of organic reactions. CHAIR IN GENETICS Closing date April 22. The basic professional salary is at present £NZ.3250 p.a. but it is within the power of the Council to make appointments j at £3400 p.a. and £3700 p.a. The Council proposes to establish a ' Department of Genetics and in • vites applications for a Profes sor of Genetics, who will be Head of the Department. Persons suitably qualified in any field of Genetics are invited to apply, but other things being equal, preference will be given to a candidate who is particularly interested in microbial genetics, and who would be able to work in with the Department of Microbiology, which has an active programme on DNA and RNA in viruses as well as cancer research.
