Workers’ Premiums

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, March 10.

The Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) announced tonight an amendment to the Employers’ Liability Regulations varying a number of the premium rates payable in respect of workers’ compensation has been gazetted. He said the premium rates had been reviewed by the Workers’ Compensation Board. The review was based on the claim experience of insurers authorised under the act to handle workers’ compensation business. “It is expected the changes in premium rates will have no appreciable effect on the over-all level of premiums,” said Mr Shand, “because the increases balance out the reductions fairly closely.”
