WELLINGTON, March 11

Two 12-year-old schoolboys with no previous driving experience drove a truck from Otaki to Bulls unscathed, the Lower Hutt Children's Court he’rd today.

The two admitted to Mr J F. Keane, S.M., charges of unlawfully taking a motor truck from Otaki on November 27, of interfering with a car valued at £5OO at Bulls on November 28 and of stealing £6 10s worth of 2s pieces from the car. One was placed under the care of the child welfare officer for 12 months and ordered to pay 19s 3d restitution The other’s case was adjourned for three months. In the meantime he will remain under the supervision of the child welfare officer. He was ordered to make restitution. Sergeant B. J. Courtenay said the bovs left home on November 27 and took a train to Paekakariki. They then hitchi ked’ to Otaki, where they took a truck from a service station. It had been left with the keys in the ignition. At Bulls they got into a car by opening it through a broken window and found £6 10s worth of 2s pieces. They then travelled to Wanganui in a taxi.
