New Members On Parole Board

WELLINGTON, March 9.
Five new members of the Prisons Parole Board were announced today by the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan).
They are Mr J. B. Thomson, S.M. (Wellington), Mr W. K. Beaton (Christchurch), Dr. W. S. W. P. Mirams (Wellington), Mr G. P. Proctor (Wellington), and Mr R. H. Wynyard (Te Awamutu).
The retiring members are Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, SAI., who has served on the board for 12 years, Dr. R. G. T. Lewis, 1.5.1., nine years, and Mr T. T. Ropiha, 1.5.0., six years.
Mr Thomson has been chairman of the Borstal Parole Boards since their inception in 1961, and Mr Beaton served for a time on the Invercargill Borstal Parole Board.
He has also represented Southern Maori on the national committee on education and the Waihopa tribal committee.
Dr. Mirams is director of the Mental Health Devision of the Department of Health. Mr Proctor has been on the board three years and Mr
Wynyard was on the Waikeria Borstal Parole Board and is a past president of the Te Awamutu branch of Federated Farmers and a director of Te Awamutu Rotary. The chairman of the board is Mr Justice Henry, and Mr J. L. Robson, the Secretary for Justice, is a former officer member.
