VIETNAM TEAM COMPLETED
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 10. The five-man team of New Zealand Parliamentarians which will make a 10-day visit to South Vietnam in April will include the Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Mr Watt) and the Labour member for Waitakere, Dr. M. Finlay.
The names of the Labour members of the team were announced this afternoon by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk). Earlier this week, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) announced that the three National members would be the chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence, Mr D. MacIntyre (Hastings), Mr L. F. Sloane (Hobson), and Mr D. S. Thomson (Stratford). Mr Thomson will join the ’ team in Saigon on his way i from the United States where i he has been on a study grant. ]
The other four team mem bers will be flown from Auck land by R.N.Z.A.F. Hercules on April 7. They will not visit othei countries in South-east Asia. The trip was requested by Mr Kirk so that members from both sides of the House of Representatives could examine the current situation io South Vietnam.
