Market Almost Steady At Close Of Trading

Over-all the market was almost steady when trading on New Zealand stock exchanges came to a close yesterday, but any firmness came from the New Zealand list with key stocks again predominating among the advances. There were twice as many falls as rises in the overseas section.

Enzlon again featured with a further rise to 2s lid, making a gain of lid on last week’s close. Crothall sold 5d up at 24s 4d in first ex dividend sales. Gains of 3d each were made by P.T.Y., Alliance notes, Berlei, F.T.C., Motor Holdings, N.Z. Refining, Truth, Wilson Cement and Zip. The slide by some key Australian stocks was checked. B.H.P. recovered 7d to 39s lOd, G. J. Coles Id to 10s 7d, Waltons Id to 8s 3d and Mount Isa 6d to 36s 9d.
