Colombo Street South
Sir, —With the rash of traffic lights appearing on Moorhouse avenue, one wonders when something is going to be done to ease the lot of east-west travellers across Colombo street south of Moorhouse avenue, i.e. at Wordsworth street and Brougham street. You wouldn’t mind traffic lights with a two-to-one advantage to Colombo street traffic, if you knew eventually your turn would come. With the present set-up, at peak periods, it doesn't. I would like to ask: (1) Are traffic lights to be installed at either of these intersections? (2) If, so, when? (3) As the c;y traffic department is obviously prepared to turn a blind eye to buses turning into Colombo street from Wordsworth street at peak periods breaking all the compulsory stop laws, can I have an assurance that the department will extend this courtesy to the private motorist?—Yours, etc.,
