Hire Purchase Sales

The value of television sets sold on hire purchase by surveyed businesses fell 30.6 per cent in the last quarter of 1965, compared with the same quarter of the previous year, according to a survey of trading released by the Government Statistician (Mr J. V. T. Baker). The approximate number of sets represented in the sales fell by 19 per cent.

The average amount covered by a hire purchase agreement in the latest quarter was £lO4. The value of goods sold during the December quarter on hire purchase was £14.6m. a rise of £2.lm on the £12.5m recorded for the same quarter of 1964.
