CONCERN AT DELAY

Grandstand Project Disappointment and concern at the lack of any indication when a start might be made on the building of the projected new grandstand was expressed at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The association’s annual report said no finality had been reached with the building controller on the date when a start would be permitted, and this was a matter of deep concern to the committee. In his address, the outgoing president of the association (Mr G. N. Francis) said the only indication was that the start would not be made this year but in any case the occasion of the Royal Show this year would be taken to lay the foundation stone.
