Brood Mare Sold For 1500 Gns.

Princess Melody, a six-year-old by U. Scott from Melody Maid, dam of one of the top-priced colts at the yearling sales, was sold for 1500 guineas at the sale of brood mares and racing stock at the show grounds, Addington. yesterday. Offered on behalf of Mr S. R. Messervy, of New Brighton, she was bought by Mr F. A. McMahon, of Sydney.

Princess Melody, which did not race, was m foal to Lumber Dream. She is the dam of a Morris Eden colt sold for 1250 guineas at the yearling sales. Cadenza, an 11-year-old half-sister by Light Brigade to Princess Melody, was passed in at 1000 guineas. The only other four-figure , lot was the mare, Tat Scott, offered on behalf of Mr J. A. R. Hampton, of Christchurch. She was passed in at 900 guin- ; eas. but was sold immediately • afterwards at 1000 guineas to I the Sv'dney trainer, W. : Picken. ' Cherry Blossom, the dam of ;the champion race mare, Robin ; Dundee, was sold by Mr W. S. I Howson, of Invercargill, to Mr ID. M.
