Brother Replaces Brother
It is very rare for an official to replace his brother on a major selection panel in New Zealand sport, but this is the case this year with the North Island Rugby League panel.
The 1964-65 New Zealand and North Island selector, Mr M. H. W. Robertson, recently announced that he would be unable to continue in those positions. The New Zealand Council this week named his brother, Mr B. E. Robertson, as the new North Island selector to join Messrs C. R. Mountford and W. L. O’Callaghan.
Both Robertsons are former Kiwis and toured Britain together in 1951-52 when M. Robertson was captain. M. Robertson also toured in 1947-48 and B. Robertson in 1955-56. B. Robertson was the youngest player ever to tour overseas, being only 18 in 1951-52. He played in five tests, compared with his brother’s total of 18.
