City Architects Win

Three Christchurch men have taken all the honours in the £lOOO Laminex design award for architects. Mr R. B. McGowan has won the first prize of £7OO, Mr C. R. Thomas the second prize of £2OO, and Mr J. A. Martin the third prize of £lOO. The competition, which drew entries from architects all over New Zealand, was for a design for a display stand with an article of furniture as its main feature. It was judged on March 8, in Wellington, by Messrs J. W. Backhouse and G. Nees (Wellington), F. M. Warren (Christchurch) and J. W. Wilcox (Auckland), and the results were announced yesterday by Mr B. C. Lee, New Zealand general manager of Laminex Industries, Ltd. Laminex Industries is a Christchurch-based firm.
