HOLIDAY SYSTEM

Alternative Sought (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 10. A meeting of educational bodies will be held in Auckland soon to see if an alternative can be found to the present system of school terms and holidays. One proposal is that schools should have only two terms a year and that holidays should be carried through February. Moves for changes in school holidays in the past have generally come from business interests. The present initiative has come from the Auckland Federation of School Committees AssociaI tions.

The Auckland Education Board will take part in the discussions. School committee members discussed the idea at a recent regional conference, and have since gained support from secondary school boards, the New Zealand Educational Institute and the Auckland Headmasters' Association.
