The hall has a floor area (without the stage) 100 ft by 60ft and behind the entrance foyer there are kitchen and other facilities. The building so far has cost £28,000, £32,000 has been promised, and another £12,000 is required to add changing and locker rooms. Minister’s Tribute Deputising for the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport (Mr McAlpine) said: “We need now and in the future men of moral courage and spiritual rectitude, industrial integrity as well as scientific probity, commercial ecumen and agricultural ability. “I can see more clearly than ever before a pressing need to ensure that the country is provided for the next generation with dedicated men, not only imbued with a sense of responsibility and determination but with an adequate education to carry it out. This school does just that.”

Mr W. J. Mac Gibbon, chairman of the board of governors, said the college was proud to welcome, along with Old Boys of every decade, Mr John Deans, the only surviving

member of the original board, The Mr N. Lawrence, immediate past chairman, who was associated with the college from the start, and the late Mr w. s. Mac Gibbon, who Sl " ned the application for in- ««* staff and friends—had all been men of vision. Mr G- A. M. Hilson, presiof the 01d A T ciation, organiser of the celebrations, and bursar of the

school, welcomed visitors from all over New Zealand and some from Australia and North America. “The college is secure in the strength of your love and loyalty,” he said.

Mr W. A. Goss, chairman of the jubilee building committee, described the project and handed it over to the school. He paid a special tribute to his predecessor, the late Mr J. D. Camm, who launched the appeal for funds.
