(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 8. All five holds on the freighter Santa Barbara were fumigated today to kill black carpenter ante. The hatch covers will be taken off tomorrow. The ants were first discovered in the ship’s number four hold on Monday. Seventy tons of cargo which was discharged from the ship before the ante were found was also fumigated tonight. Another 40 tons unloaded at the end of the wharf would probably be fumigated tomorrow night. The district port agriculture officer, Mr T, N. Flint, said Department of Agriculture officers would board the freighter City of Johannesburg anchored in the stream tomorrow.
