U.K. Two In Semi-Finals

The English soccer club, Liverpool, reached the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners’ Cup yesterday, to become the second British team in that stage of the competition. Liverpool beat the Hungarian club, Honved Budapest, 2-0, in the second leg erf their quarter-final match. The first leg, at Budapest, was drawn, 0-0, and Liverpool won, 2-0, on aggregate. The Scottish club, Glasgow Celtic, had qualified for the semi-finals by beating Dynamo Kiev, 4-1, on aggregate, while West Ham United, the London side and holder of the European Cup Winners’ Cup. has yet to play its second leg quarter-final match against Aufbau Magdeburg. West Ham won the first leg, in London, 1-0. Results of other games yesterday were:— ENGLISH LEAGUE Division One. —Arsenal 1, Tottenham 1; Nottingham 1, Burnley 0. Division Two.—Carlisle 2, Middlesbrough 1. Division Three.—Brighton 2, Oxford 0. Division Four.—Barns’ley 5, Rochdale 0; Halifax 2, Doncaster 3.
