Suspected Polio
A 16-year-old Ashburton boy has been sent to Princess Margaret Hospital with suspected poliomyelitis. If he has the disease it will be the first confirmed case in the Christchurch Health District since April, 1962. Christchurch doctors are not sure that he has poliomyelitis, and laboratory tests are being made in Wellington to isolate the virus.
