Long Innings For College Christ's College and Nelson College drew their annual cricket match at Hagley yesterday, Nelson having gained the first innings honours Nelson began the day with five down for 66 and chasing 160, and the later batsmen played to some effect in gaining a lead of 30 runs. P. Whitehead and J. Landels added 49 for the last wicket, a Nelson record, in better than even time, and Whitehead’s final total of 41 was the result of good batting. The fast bowler, N. Ackroyd, was the most successful Christ's College bowler, taking four wickets for 53. A long, patient innings of 57 by J. Lawson, for Christ's College in 196 minutes dominated the afternoon's play and put his side beyond any danger of defeat R. Fulton included some lusty hits in his 40. and the side had scored 174 for five at stumps.
