Fight Stopped 40sec To Go
(X.Z.P.A -Reuter —Copyright) SASSARI (Sardinia). Howard Winstone, of Wales, retained his European featherweight championship with a fifteenth round victory over Andrea Silanos, of Italy. Winstone handed out heavy punishment in the later rounds, but Silanos lasted for all but 40 seconds of the scheduled 15 rounds when the referee stopped the bout. Then Silanos was almost out on his feet.
