FREEZING UNIONS

Mr B. Manson President The vice-president of the Otago-Southland Freezing Workers’ Union (Mr B. A. Manson) was yesterday elected national president of the New Zealand Freezing Workers’ Association, said the returning officer (Mr L. Short) in Christchurch yesterday. The unsuccessful candidate, was the secretary of the Taranaki Freezing Workers' Union (Mr H. O’Carroll). Details of voting, released jointly last evening by Mr Short and the national secretary of the association (Mr F. E. McNulty), were: Manson, 4086 votes: O’Carroll, 3018: informal 148. Mr Short said that 7252 votes had been cast. Mr Manson would be declared the elected president soon. Some postal votes had still to come, but would not affect the result
