Otira Cableway
Sir, —Some considerable time ago work was started on a cableway across the Otira at Aickens. This was intended to safeguard trampers and stalkers coming down the Teramakau against a flooded Otira river. In the light of the recent search in this area this project should be completed at an early date. —Yours, etc., N.S. February 28, 1966. [The designing engineer for the cableway (Mr P. D. Anderson) says: “The cableway is at present in operation in a temporary form. It is hoped to have the project completed within a fortnight.”]
