Attempts to consolidate, ine separation of Singapore from Malay sia was the reason for a sudden influx of private Chinese students at Victoria University last week, according to a student concerned. Mr Tan Peck Wah. Mr Wah said today that the University of Singapore was staffed by Malaysians, and students at the private university had been discouraeed from completing their studies there. Mr Wah said he knew of at least 40 students who would be studying at New Zealand universities this year. Most would take mathematics or science degrees. The assistant registrar of! Victoria University, Mr W. D.: Dawson, said today that more' than 100 students from the, private Nang Yang university, in Singapore had applied for; admittance.
