Satinette Beats Ettrick At Cromwell

Press” Special Service CROMWELL. Satinette, which ran an improver’s fourth in the corresponding event on the opening day of the meeting, scored a decisive win over the favourite, Ettrick, in the M. A. de Bettencor Memorial, the feature race and first leg of the Cromwell Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double yesterday.

The double was completed by the outsider Woodella, in the Con White Memorial Hack Handicap. The combination paid £B3 13s for £l.

I ton his second winning ride for the day. I Woodella was the eleventh ; favourite of 13 in the Con White Memorial and paid £27 '3s 6d for a win. j Woodella is trained at Gore by R. J. Cochrane for Mr and 'Mrs P. J. Heffernan, of Hyde SAX’ RAFAEL SLOW San Rafael was last away in the de Bettencor Handicap. Satinette made a smart | beginning and opened a threei length lead racing to the six furlongs where Glenmorven and Idol Prince led the chase ahead of Ettrick and San Rafael with Alle Vite and Flying Trix in the next line. Satinette shaded Glenmorven, Ettrick and San Rafael into the straight with Flying Trix prominent wide. San Rafael was the first beaten, but there was little between’ the other four at the furlong. Satinette came away again to win by three lengths from Ettrick. There were two

! lengths to Glenmorven and a long head to Flying Trix. :Cassbridge was next and then jldol Prince. Allez Vite. Pease and Bell View. CAUSED UPSET Woodella caused an upset when he outstayed the favourlite Golden Disc in the Con I White Memorial. I Taanway made the early j pace from Kulinga. but the latter soon went ahead. Racing to the half-mile Taanway and Chimaera joined Kulinga in the lead with Argyle Boy, Say So. Earl Howe, Golden Disc and Golden Silver next. I There was little change in the order of the leading division racing to the straight where Silver Field became prominent. Woodella came fast to join Golden Disc near the furlong and finished best. Golden Disc was easily second | from Silver Field. Argyle Boy was fourth ahead of Say So. Then came Golden Silver. Blue Amber. Chimaera and John’s Mistake.
