COMMERCIAL Recovery By Leaders Lifts N.Z. Trading
Recoveries by some key New Zealand stocks gave the market a lift yesterday at the start of the week’s trading, but Australian stocks lost ground sharply in line with the home market.
New Zealand Breweries rose Id to 13s 4d, New Zealand Insurance Id to 22s 7d, South British 3d to 30s 9d, Wright Stephenson 6d to 30s, Charles Begg 3d to 18s, Golden Bay 6d to 15s, J. Wattie 3d to 18s 3d, New Zealand Forest Products Id to 22s and New Zealand Refining 3d to 34s 9d were among the gains. Bank of N.S.W. rights, up 3d to 18s 6d, was the only gain in the overseas list. Ampol, A.C.L, 8.H.P., E.Z. Industries, 1.C.1.A.N.Z., L. J. Hooker and Mount Isa were among the Australian losses.
