Upset In Doubles
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LA JOLLA, (California). Arthur Ashe and lan Crookenden, both of U.C.L.A., won the 77th annual Pacific Coast section men’s doubles tennis championship on Sunday, beating Charles Pasarell and Dennis Ralston, 6-3, 15-13, 3-6, 2-6, 9-7. Ashe and Crookenden were the defending champions but had been seeded second to their opponents. Pasarell and Ralston, who have played very little as a team, were still being considered as a possible Davis Cup combination, in spite of the loss. Ashe and Crookenden broke Ralston’s serve in the sixteenth game of the fifth set for the victory.
