Russia Appeals To Sukarno
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MOSCOW, March 7 The Soviet President (Mr Nikolai Podgorny), has sent a message to the Indonesian President, Dr. Sukarno, asking that the death sentence against an Indonesian communist leader, Njono, be quashed, the official news agency, Tass, reported yesterday. The Soviet message said an executive pardon for Njono would be “a highly humane step” which would be received with “great approval and understanding” among the people of the Soviet Union.
