MAN FINED £40
Stole Goods From Truck (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 4. A truck driver had to make up half the cost of goods that Charles Henry Crann stole from his delivery vehicle, Sergeant D. E. Henderson told the Magistrate’s Court today. Crann, aged 40, a storeman, who admitted stealing goods worth £5, and unlawfully interfering with the truck, was fined a total of £4O, byMr F. McCarthy.
The sergeant said the driver parked his truck outside his home overnight and emerged next morning to find the canvas canopy unstrapped and the goods missing. Two weeks later, he parked the laden truck outside again, and looked out after midnight to see Crann, who lived opposite, peering into the truckPolice found the remains of the stolen goods in Crann’s house.
