Thrives On Busy Life
Trying to combine a strenuous public life and bringing up six children is something most women prefer to avoid but Mrs Lorna McCafferty thrives on such a routine. Mrs McCafferty is the wife of Mr J. F. McCafferty, the Mayor of Toowoomba, who is heading a goodwill party to New Zealand. As Mayoress of Toowoomba for the last eight years, Mrs McCafferty plays .a full part in the city’s busy social life and still finds time to sit on numerous committees and bring up her family of six children. “It’s rather strenuous, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of it and the life becomes part of you and you get interested in spite of yourself,” she said. Mrs McCafferty admits there are drawbacks. “You are a target for everyone and everything, but I do meet so many wonderful people.”
