Amputation Necessary

(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, March 6. The victim of a shooting accident on the slopes of the Hunter hills, near Waimate, had his lower left leg amputated in the Timaru Hospital on Saturday. He is Allan Geoffrey Hamilton, aged 21, of 4 Weaver street Oamaru, whose condition today was described as satisfactory. Mr Hamilton was in a party of four shooters who were hunting wallabies in the vicinity of Kelcy’s bush on Saturday morning. The mishap occurred about noon when he was accidentally shot by one of the group. The injured man was attended by Dr. A. St. John, of Waimate, and brought out of the bush by a police rescue team from Waimate.
