Valuers Elect Officers
The aim of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers was to give its members as many statistical facts as possible, but it was only the experience of the valuer which enabled him to interpret these facts in terms of value. If this was done with integrity and fidelity, the registered valuer had justified the trust placed in him by the public, said the chairman of the CanterburyWestland branch (Mr N. G. Hillary) at the annual meeting.
A recommendation that three members be appointed fellows of the institute at the next council meeting was adopted. The financial position of the institute had improved with a membership of 148, which included 36 student members, Mr Hillary said. The following committee was elected: Messrs N. G. Hillary, D. K. Ower, M. B. Cooke. R. K. Baker, T. F. Christensen, B. A. Hadcroft, J. R. Kingston, G. H. Kissell, A. G. Pullin, E. R. Skeats. The new secretary (Mr K. C. Hagan) was welcomed to the meeting and Mr M. B. Cooke was congratulated on his second term as Dominion president.
