Fire At Cinema
The Lido Theatre, New Brighton, was evacuated last evening because of a fire which broke out in the boilerhouse attached to the back of the building. The fire was confined to the boilerhouse and caused only slight damage. Patrons at the theatre filed out in an orderly manner when smoke from the fire got into the theatre. The fire alarm was given at 8.42 p.m., and two engines from New Brighton and one from Headquarters attended. The theatre proprietor, Mr H. L. Masters, said the picturegoers were given admission tickets for another performlance. The theatre will be open I for business as usual today.
