Eight Injured On Roads

Eight persons were injured, but only one admitted to hospital, in road accidents in Christchurch yesterday. There were two collisions at the corner of Hastings and Colombo streets, the first involving four cars and the second three, during heavy rain between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Another three-car collision occurred at the corner of Moorhouse avenue and Selwyn streets, and two cars collided at the corner of North Parade and Medway street. Only one person was injured in the multi-car accidents. Mr B. Docherty, of 254 Fitzgerald avenue, and Mr S. J. Winter, of 18 Livingstone street, suffered minor injuries

in a collision between a car and power-cycle at the intersection of Fitzgerald avenue and Kilmore street about 6.20 p.m. About 5 p.m., Mr M. Dinternan, of 29 Clissold street, a pedestrian, suffered abrasions when hit by a car on the corner of Harper avenue and Fendalton road. A cyclist, Mr A. Keeble, of 14 Dundee place, suffered minor injuries in a collision with car in Dundas street, about 11.55 a.m. Donald Wakelyn, of 23 McBeath avenue, suffered slight head and shoulder injuries in a collision between two cars ion the corner of Colombo and i Salisbury streets, early in the i afternoon. i G. Robinson, of 130 Richardson terrace, a cyclist, suffered slight arm injuries when his cycle hit a car door in Lichfield street A motor-cyclist, Owen Galbraith, of 265 Knowles street, and a pedestrian, Mr B. Hempstalk, of 15 Ensors road, suffered injuries in an accident at the comer of Bar hadoes and Cashel streets. Mr ffempstalk was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital with head injuries. Mr Galbraith was treated and discharged. Mrs G. Fuller, of 12 Cardiff avenue, suffered shock in a three-car collision at the corner of Hastings and Colombo streets.
