DC8 CRASHES

TOKYO, March 4.

A Canadian Pacific DCB jetliner carrying 73 passengers burst into flames tonight when it crash-landed at Tokyo International Airport.

Airport officials said that the plane, on a flight from Hong Kong, crashed at 8.14 p.m. and bodies were hurled from the wreckage as it skidded along a runway. The plane broke up on landing.

The national news agency. Kyodo, reported that the fire was earning under control. The Japan Broadcasting Corporation reported there were “many survivors.” Fog hung over the airport when the DCB was coming in to land but the cause of the accident was not yet known. The mishap happened one month to the day after an All Nippon Airlines Boeing 727 crashed in Tokyo Bay.
