LEAGUE MOVE

Beri Signs For Marist One of the most promising Rugby League players in Canterbury, W. D. Beri, will transfer from Linwood to Marist this year. Beri is the son of the former New Zealand Rugby League trialist and Canterbury Rugby representative, the late Mr L. C. Beri. Mr Beri was also a New Zealand snooker champion. N. Beri, a brother of W. D. Beri, is a current Wellington Rugby League prop. A schoolboy Kiwi at the national tournament at Greymouth in 1960, W. D. Beri made his senior debut last year for Linwood. He achieved the rare distinction for a 19-year-old of scoring a century of points in club matches. His total of 111 comprised 52 goals and three tries.

Marist will also have the services of the Marist Rugby wing, B. Dobbs.
