HAMILTON.

The Union (Christchurch) crew will miss the final of the coxless pairs as the result of a protest and a re-run of one of the semi-finals in yesterday’s New Zealand rowing championships at Lake Karapiro.

The Waikato crew protested on the grounds that it was wrongly advised by an umpire to keep in its own water. Waikato felt it chances

were affected by the nianoeuvering. The protest was upheld and it was decided the first semifinal would be rowed again. Union countered with its own protest, claiming its bow man was too sick for the rerun. However, its protest was not upheld. Waikato proved the justice of its case by finishing second to Wellington No. 2, with Aramoho third, in a time 6sec faster than the original race. Union finished out of a place. The other semi-final of the coxless pairs was won by Riverton. with Wakatipu second and Whakatane third. This was the only senior C’ent rowed yesterday, and all is now in readiness for today’s finals.
