“Recently ‘Science’ reported some work on spiders, and it was found that webs spun on Mondays were different from those made on other days of the week. Did the spiders know it was Monday? No. But they did eat their webs every Sunday night when the scientific staff wasn’t there to destroy them. And apparently, eating a web makes a spiderconstruct a different one the next day.”— Arthur Garratt in the 8.8. C. programme “Science and Industry.”
