Fisheries Education (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Mar. 3. Two fisheries training schools for skippers and crews are expected to be arranged late next month or in May. One will be on seamanship and safety and the other on food technology, including fish handling and processing. Each will last about a fortnight. The schools are being arranged by the Marine Department on behalf of the Fishing Industry Board and the industry itself. They arise from the recommendations of a committee established at a conference on fisheries education and training last year. The conference was to have been reconvened to consider progress, but the department has decided instead to push on with its plans. Later this year, a Canadian fisheries expert will visit New Zealand for six months under a fellowship financed by Commonwealth funds and'administered by the University Grants Committee. He will advise on future fisheries training and education in New Zealand.
