Sweden and Pakistan today signed an agreement under which the Swedish Government is to set up a family welfare clinic in Pakistan and supply contraceptjves, experts, training and other facilities for the next five years. “Pakistan with a birth rate of 50 a thousand and a mortality rate of 20 a thousand has an annual growth rate of 3 per cent, one of the highest in the world. Unless controlled, it would result in a doubling of the population in 23 years,” a government statement said.
